Program Information
The Environmental and Sustainability Studies program teaches students to analyze complex sustainability issues by exploring environmental, social, and economic points of view. In our interdisciplinary program, students learn both the science of the environment and how social factors like culture, policy, and economics influence humans’ interactions with their environments. Considering all the angles prepares our students to create innovative solutions to today’s biggest sustainability challenges.
Environmental and Sustainability Studies Major (pending final approval)
Our program offers the only Environmental and Sustainability Studies major in South Carolina (pending final approval) and one of only two in the Southeast. The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Environmental and Sustainability Studies emphasizes training in the social sciences, humanities, and business and economics. The B.A. is ideal for students who wish to prepare for socially-oriented sustainability careers or advanced study in areas including environmental policy and sustainability management.
Environmental and Sustainability Studies B.A. Degree Requirements
